Astilbe are one of the mainstays
of the shady garden, blooming mid-summer after the
flurry of spring has subsided. Their feathery
flowers are held above the foliage, and fill the
summer months with colour. Many varieties have
bronze or red in the foliage of on the stems which
increases their interest. Chinensis varieties
bloom later and are more drought resistant than
arendsii types. Plant in groups for best effect. |
The Variety Astilbe Chin. 'Vision in
Red' (which is really more magenta) has been one of
our top performers for years.... |
